The Delhi hitter was purchased by KKR in the 2011 IPL player closeout for $2.4 million (11.04 crore). He drove the group from the Eastern piece of India to the title in 2012 and 2014. Subsequent to initiating the group for seven seasons, Gambhir went to Delhi Capitals from where he reported his retirement.
Recently, numerous reports proposed that the southpaw was set for a transition to his previous IPL side. Fans began guessing that a memorable homecoming was around the bend when Gambhir visited KKR's co-proprietor Shah Rukh Khan's home in Mumbai in September.
